Is "Life Unexpected" cancelled?

Not according to executive producer Liz Tigelaar! Even though the CW has opted not to order a full season of the show, Tigelaar insists that LUX is not over yet. "We're still hopeful," she said. "Despite being pre-empted in Los Angeles last night, our ratings were actually great for us, and what The CW has been OK with. The CW assured me yesterday that not being picked up is different than being cancelled, so we're holding onto that and operating under that."

"We really, really wanted to do a back nine," she said. "We were working on [those episodes], so we're disappointed because we all just want to keep doing the show."

However, if the network does decide to cancel the show after all, Tigelaar assured fans that she is treating the finale as the last ever episode. "We always knew where the series would end, and we also know there's a big pull to have Cate and Baze end up together," she said. "But at the same time, getting the news yesterday, we've already started prepping episode 13.

"The stories that we started in the premiere will resolve in episode 13. Sure, we won't be able to do the ending we would have planned, but I definitely believe we'll be able to do an ending that makes people feel really satisfied and feels like an ending."

I'm really sad to see that things are not going well with the show's ratings. This is one of the most beautiful TV stories out there right now, very much in the tradition of the old WB shows we all use to love so much. I believe it is one of the best scripted shows of the CW at the moment, and it would be a shame to watch it end like this. Fortunately, fans will still get some closure but it is a pity for it to end so abruptly when it has so much potential.

So If you happen to live in the US, give it a try and watch! Try to spread the word too! You won't regret it, plus an increase in the  ratings is the only way it can be saved right now. "Life Unexpected" continues on Tuesdays at 9/8c on The CW. The first season is currently airing in the UK on Sundays at 7pm on E4.
