This entire week I am going to be putting the spotlight on some very talented people that I know and love... I have ridiculously talented people in my inner-circle and want to share them and their talent with all you. Nepotism? Maybe... But it's my blog and I can plug if I want to. So this whole week I will be introducing you to some of the hautest rising stars in multiple genres that you've never heard of but should have. And I'm starting in 5, 4, 3, 2....
You might not be familiar with the Camden, NJ based music duo "Midnite Action" but you so need to be. Their music can best be described in 2 words: "identity crisis". In the best possible way... Combine hip hop/rap with rock/pop and sprinkle in some comedy and you have a recipe for great music or as I like to call it "Hop Rock". Midnite Action members "Shotgun Shotti" (who happens to be one of my bestest friends) and "Husk-E-Fresh" are gifted musical artists who could moonlight as stand up comedians. These clowns are funny as hell!! I dare anyone to listen to one of their songs and 1) keep a straight face and 2) be able to get the song out of your head. Their music, mostly produced by phenom producer Traxx Trigga owner of "Screwface World Music" record label and studio, is the definition of "catchy" and once you listen to it you never forget it. And you definitely want to hear more. I challenge you to listen to this dynamic duo and not like them. You can't. It's impossible. And I can prove it...
One thing I absolutely love about them as artists is that they're not afraid to make fun of themselves. At all. Photos from a recent photo shoot with photographer Devin Wade look nothing like the usual stereotypical "rapper" photos we're so used to seeing.... These might be the funniest publicity photos I have ever seen:
