"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful." -Albert Schweitzer
I do not believe in "New Year Resolutions", I never keep them. I think it's the pressure and my natural defiance. If someone tells me I can't do something, it's forbidden...I automatically want to do it...badly. However, I do believe in "New Year Good Intentions". I intend to work less and enjoy life more in 2010. No pressure.
As for the past year...I worked way too much. I got so caught up in making a living, I forgot to have a life. But I have to admit, sometimes I just really enjoy working. Most of the time actually. Yesterday (new Year's Eve) was one of those times. I had a client at 6:15. A darling blue-eyed fresh faced blond named Ashley looking for a glam New Year's Eve look.
I arrived at her apartment armed with a full makeup case, she answered the door armed with enthusiasm. She is just adorable!! I told her I was thinking "Twiggy" but sexy...like a "hybrid of Twiggy and Brigitte Bardot"...trendy, mod and sexy. She loved the idea. She was so upbeat, and more than a little hyper... running around in boxer shorts, extremely furry Uggs and topless. LOL... It didn't faze me, I've seen more breasts than Hugh Hefner. Occupational hazard.
First I helped her pick out an outfit. After that was done we moved on to hair. She has great hair. I straightened it, then proceeded to add height and volume at the crown, some body to the ends and left the front straight. She added a Camellia headband at the last minute...so darling. Loved it.
3) I patted the lightest shade of the POP Smokey Eye Goddess Clutch palette all over the lid. Origins Glistening Granite ( a GORGEOUS silvery/blue-ish green-ish hue) just ABOVE the crease, on the bone above the crease and just under the brow. I blended it out in a windshield wiper motion with a fluffy brush. MAC's fluidline cream liner in Blacktrack came next, used to create a dramatic wing and line the "tightline" (inner eye... under the top lashes). I went over the liner in a dry glittery eyeshadow and blended the stark lines out a little bit. A few coats of L'oreal Telescopic Explosion mascara and the eyes were done. And GORGEOUS.
4) Maybelline Liquid Dream Mousse foundation was applied with a foundation brush spareingly because her is skin is beautiful and I didn't want to cover it up. A peachy-pink blush was applied to the apples of her cheeks. I used a discontinued product but Nars Orgasm would be perfect. Revlon's new Photo Ready Powder (great product!) locked in the look.
5) A couple of coats of MAC's Lipglaze lipstick in Hue and she was ready to ring in the New Year beautifully...
The result? Picture perfect...
By the time I was done and ready to be on my way it was about 8:30 and I realized I had almost worked through New Year's Eve. But I didn't mind...it definitely beats digging ditches. There are worse ways to make a living and I love my job. However, I do INTEND to TRY to slow it down...

While spending the first day of the New Year hunting for photos of the different looks of NYE 2009 I came across a few odd, and slightly disturbing, couplings...

First and foremost I would like to wish one of my fellow bloggers, Sound-savvy, a Happy New Year!! Sound-Savvy is one of the best music blogs/websites on the net. I have a serious music addiction and SS is my fix/dealer. Today my honey @soundsavvy (he's also a fellow twit-a-holic) posted Jay Z's newest video for the uber-hot cut "On To The Next One" and it's the best New Year's gift EVER.
Oh how I love my Hov...ok, technically he's Bey's Hov, but I love him in a different way. He is one of the greatest artists of all time and I love his music, I also respect his overall conduct, his natural intelligence and gut instinct, his style and demeanor...I could go on and on. Jay Z is the only man in the Glamour Whore Hall Of Fame, due to his ability to rock a dapper white tux and jeans and a fitted in the same evening and look natural in both. He is the definition of a renaissance man... *eyes glaze over and deep exhale*
This video has the sexiest Jaguar I have ever seen, a diamante skull, INSANE MAKEUP,and Hov, it's once again "Where the hood and high fashion meet"...
I could go on and on but I won't...or have I already? Just watch the video already....*sigh*
Happy New Year Sound-Savvy!!!! Thanx for the video and for always providing thought provoking articles, hot music and videos and completely positive upbeat accurate music news daily!! -Keep up the good work:)
Ring out the old, ring in the new, Ring, happy bells, across the snow: The year is going, let him go; Ring out the false, ring in the true. ~Alfred, Lord Tennyson, 1850
Riri and La Lopez may have been thousands of miles apart, Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates and NYC respectively, but they both kicked off 2010 in true Glamour Whore form...giving bad ass performances and looking utterly glam while doing so. I appreciate that, I thank them for starting my new year right...by giving me something to talk about.
Uber-diva Jennifer Lopez performed in Times Square, the heart of her home town and as usual the glamour factor was off the charts... Auld Lang Syne bitchesssss.
Mz.Rihanna rang in her New Year rocking the stage in Abu Dhabi United Arab Emirates ... What do 2009 and 2010 have in common? Riri was a bad bitch in 2009 and she's a bad bitch in 2010. Kul 'am wa antum bikhair!! <~Happy New Year in Arabic.
Know what else hasn't changed in 2010? Just Jared is still providing great photos...
