"Thunder is good, thunder is impressive; but it is lightning that does the work."
-Mark Twain

I usually hate "gimmicky" fashion...those damn kid sneakers they sell at Payless that light up when the lil devils stomp around leave me needing to be hospitalized and institutionalized. However, these Glow in the dark Rodarte (one of my FAVORITES) heels from their Fall RTW 2010 runway show this week in NYC are just...AMAZING. I mean, seriously AMAZING. I would pimp you, your momma and your grandmama to get these shoes. Yeah, it's that serious.

~Iman Rocks Rodarte For "T Magazine"

Timeless:
Main Entry: time·less
Pronunciation: \ˈtīm-ləs\
Function: adjective
Date: circa 1560
1) archaic : premature, untimely
2) A : having no beginning or end : eternal
B : not restricted to a particular time or date
3) not affected by time : ageless

It's shocking to me that this picture of Iman rocking, Rodarte in New York Time's magazine
"T Magazine", isn't in the dictionary next to the definition of "Timeless'...seriously...shocking.

~MAC and Rodarte Take Makeup ART To A Whole New Level~

"Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up." ~Pablo Picasso

For Rodarte's Spring/Summer 2010 Runway Show last week during Fashion Week in NYC, MAC Cosmetic's Senior Artist Chantel Miller took makeup art to new heights. In collaboration with Rodarte designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy , miller designed full-sleeve, half-sleeve and neck tattoos painted on BY HAND using only MAC cosmetics and brushes. It took 40 artists, yes I said 40 artists, and 4 hours to prepare and accomplish the look on the models before the show.

AMAZING. UTTERLY AMAZING.

"High heels were invented by a woman who had been kissed on the forehead."
-Christopher Morley

It has been a very good couple of years as far as shoe design goes...and it just keeps getting better. In the past few years shoe designers have taken shoe design to new heights, they have made it a bona fide artform. Kirkwood, Louboutin, Dior, Chanel,Camilla Skovgaard, the list is endless. I could go on and on... However I will limit it to 2 collections that I am overly impressed with today...

Casadei, the Italian luxury footwear brand has named it's Fall 09 collection "The Red Carpet Collection" and it's so very appropriate. If any shoe was born for the red carpet, it is any one of the shoes in this decadent and sexy collection. The colors, fabric, studded heels, pleats, buckles, and feminine details of these shoes are simply classically stunning.

Casadei Fall 09:

Suggested Lip Color:
Stila Silk Shimmer Gloss in Kitten

Now for the 2nd collection...

The 2nd collection that has left Glamour Whore speechless (Thank God I can still type;) is actually a collaboration. 3.1 Philip Lim and Christian Louboutin teamed up for The Spring/Summer 2010 3.1 Philip Lim collection. The result? Omg...omg...omg...omg...OMFG. Get what I'm trying to say? See for yourself...

3.1 Philip Lim Spring/Summer 2010

Suggested Lip Color:
Chanel Luminous Satin Lip Lacquer in Coromandel

Ok, so I know I said I was only going to write about 2 collections...I lied. I'm sorry, it's a terrible thing...lying. But....I'm a shoe junkie. My name is Glamour Whore and I'm a shoe junkie. I need a 12 step program. Actually, no I don't I like being addicted....

Anyway, collection # 3 that has me dreaming about spikey stilettos is...

Kirkwood for
Rodarte Spring/Summer 2010. (1 of my favorite shoe designers AND one of my favorite couture designers...together...*sigh*)

Suggested Lipstick:
MAC Black Knight...of course.

~Nicholas Kirkwood and Polyvore...My Newest Addictions~

~It is not I who becomes addicted, it is my body.~ -Jean Cocteau

Let me introduce you to my latest addictions...

Polyvore:
http://www.polyvore.com/
The official "About Us" from Polyvore homepage:

Polyvore is a free, easy-to-use web-based application for mixing and matching images from anywhere on the web. It is also a vibrant community of creative and stylish people.
Polyvore lets you create sets composed of individual images using an easy to use, drag and drop editor. After you have created a set, you can publish and share it with your friends and the Polyvore community

Now Glamour Whore's description:
Polyvore is FABULOUS!! It is a amazing site to express your creativity. You can design collages, "sets", outfits, dedications to designers and so on.. It's kind of hard for me to describe so I will show you...

But first let me introduce you Mr.Nicholas Kirkwood.
http://www.nicholaskirkwood.com/
Nicholas Kirkwood is beyond a shoe designer, he is a shoe architect. His designs are original, cutting edge, fashion forward, and utterly gorgeous. He also designs for Rodarte, which just so happens to be my favorite design house.

His bio:
Nicholas Kirkwood is a shoe designer based in London who graduated with a degree in BA Fine Art from Central St. Martins before completing a course at Cordwainers. Kirkwood won the Condé Nast Footwear Emerging Talent of the Year award with his first collection in 2005 and has since carved a distinct signature style with his constant innovation of form and use of unconventional materials such as stingray, watersnake and python. Refusing to design flat-soled shoes, Kirkwood has caught the attention of Grace Jones and Cecilia Dean of Visionaire and has collaborated with designers such as Rodarte, Gareth Pugh and Chloé. His Spring/Summer 08 collection saw a collaboration with Swarovski and subsequently won him the Alta Roma Vogue Italia Award for accessories design. At the 2008 British Fashion Awards he was presented with the Swarovski Emerging Talent Award for accessory design. Nicholas Kirkwood’s shoes are sold worldwide and stockists include Liberty, Browns, Dover Street Market, Le Bon Marché and Seven New York.

I am completely obsessed by his designs and consumed with urgency to purchase my first pair...Yes, Glamour Whore has goals and aspiration, I aspire to own Nicholas Kirkwoods!!

To introduce you to my newest obsessions/addictions I have combined them. I made a Nicholas Kirkwood "set" on Polyvore. Before I show you my creation take a look at some of
Nicholas Kirkwood's shoe architecture that didn't make into the "set"

"Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening."-Coco Chanel

And the award for Womenswear Designer of the Year goes to: RODARTE!!!!!!!! Glamour Whore has always known it, and now the rest of the world does also. Rodarte designers Kate & Laura Mulleavy are two very creative and fashion forward individuals who so deserved this award and I couldn't be happier for them. Lincoln Center was the venue for last nights 2009 Council of Fashion Designers of America award ceremony. The room was filled with talent, creativity, legends and future stars of the fashion world. Not to mention all of the beauty and glamour that must been in abundance. I congratulate all nominees and winners for having their brilliance recognized. This years awards stood out in the sense that more awards were given to newcomers than ever before and I must say it's refreshing. Here is a list of the nights recipients, (I prefer to use that word over "winner" because to even be nominated in such a competitive industry makes you a winner whether you brought home an award or not):

Womenswear Designer of the Year: Kate and Laura Mulleavy, Rodarte

Menswear Designer of the Year: Tie between Italo Zucchelli, Calvin Klein Collection, and Scott Sternberg, Band of Outsiders

Accessories Designer of the Year: Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, Proenza Schouler

Swarovski Award for Womenswear: Alexander Wang

Swarovski Award for Menswear: Tim Hamilton

Swarovski Accessories Award: Justin Giunta, Subversive Jewelry

International Award: Marc Jacobs

Eleanor Lambert Award: Jim Moore

Eugenia Sheppard Award: Edward Nardoza

Board of Directors' Special Tribute: Michelle Obama

Popular Vote Award: Ralph Lauren

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL!!!

I absolutely LOVE that the Board of Directors' Special Tribute award went to First Lady Michelle Obama!!
